Our Veterinarians

Dr. Nancy McQuade

Dr. McQuade graduated in 1984 from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in Saskatoon, following completion of her Bachelor of Science at the University of Manitoba in 1980.  In her “previous life”, Dr. McQuade was a medical laboratory technologist for 10 years.

Dr. McQuade is very proud to have been one of the founding partners of WinRose Animal Hospital and, more recently, she opened Best Friends Animal Hospital in February of 2003.  She is also very proud of her team members at Best Friends and their commitment to the owner-pet-veterinary bond.  Dr. McQuade is especially committed to sharing with our patients’ owners the knowledge that her veterinary team has gathered over their many years in practice.  She recognizes that “knowledge is power” and that knowledgeable owners are better able to provide the best care for their pets.

Since graduating from veterinary school, Dr. McQuade has developed a special interest in birds and exotic pets and has established herself as one of the most knowledgeable exotic veterinarians in Winnipeg.  She loves working with all of her patients, but the exotics provide a special challenge that she has embraced.

Dr. McQuade is a long-standing member of the Board of Directors of the Winnipeg Humane Society.  The Humane Society has become a passion of Dr. McQuade, “speaking for those who cannot speak for themselves”. As well donating her services to Petland’s “Pets for Life” Adoption Centre, and Hi Speed Hounds Greyhound Rescue Organization.

Dr. McQuade has been married to her husband, Brian Macri, since 1984.  Their “family” presently includes their Greyhound, “Bonnie” and their two cats, “Clyde” and “Crunch”.

Aside from her career, Dr. McQuade’s activities include traveling, scuba diving and gardening.  She is also a member of Assiniboine 419 Toastmasters Club, where Dr. McQuade hones her “listening, speaking and thinking” skills every Tuesday night – a great asset to everyone who has to listen to her!
